"The best thing is to look natural, but it takes makeup to look natural..."

Writing my Blog post the other day about Beauty Essentials, it got me thinking about Make Up.......

Women have been using some form of 'make-up' to cover themselves up for many many years!!! :) I have found that over the years make-up counters as well as the products available have become better and better! There are just so many items on the market nowadays!

Now I have to admit that I came to this quite late, being more of a tomboy growing up than an all out girly girl. I mean, I loved climbing trees and covering my clothes in tar from climbing over the gate in the paddock which was next to our house, much to my Mum's dismay!! I got more into make-up when I was at secondary school. I would take my purple rimmel make-up bag with me into which I had put blue glittery lipstick and silver eyeshadow!! What a combination!! I think I also had some powder in there too which no doubt was the wrong shade!!! :O Oh. Dear! My sister helped me out though, pointing me in the direction of which shadow colours would suit me.

As I gew older, I became more aware of what suited me and would often buy things like lipgloss, eye shadows and mascaras. (I counted how many I had earlier, have to say it's about 10!! OOopppssss!) Now I am a few years older, I prefer the 'less is more' approach to make up! I do not want tide marks on my chin when applying foundation and I do not want to look like a spider when applying mascara thank you very much!! This is why I have stepped away from eyeliner. I do not like poking myself in the eye!! I have also taken to(trying to save money and not going to the salon to get them tinted!) 'colouring-in' my eyebrows with a pencil.

(Me thinks waterproof mascara would've been a better look here!)

My favourite foundation (after many, many attempts) is the 'Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation'. I find it goes on easily and also blends really well. I can totally see the hype about it!

I also have the concealor. Both in a light ivory shade as I find it easier to build up colour rather than being wary right from the off about putting too much colour on my face.......

.......and looking like this patchy jigsaw This is why it's SSOO important to find your perfect shade! A good place to start is by going to a make-up counter and asking for advice. It is important to test any foundation on your chin rather than the back of your hand and also to do this in natural light so you can see what it is going to look like.

Here is a swatch of the different Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundations:

I think it is best to go 1 or 2 shades up from your natural shade, this way the risk of ending up like jigsaw girl is lessend-well, we can only hope it is anyway!! ;0) I however am not sure if it better to go lighter or darker?? Like I said before, my foundation is in a 'True ivory' shade (least I THINK it is....) and I wonder if this is too light?? I do have fair skin and should avoid anything too dark, but would an 'Ivory' shade have been better......?? HHmmm......(Let me know in the comments below..thanks)

Another make-up item I love has to be Lipgloss! Honestly I have more of these than I do mascaras.... EEPP!!!

Natural collection ones are my favourites :)

I am addicted to Mascara.....this is one of the un-used ones I have!

Here is a list of all the Mascaras that I have........

  • W7 Massive Lashes
  • 17 Va Va Voom Volume
  • NYC Volumising High Definition
  • Body Shop Big and Curvy (Waterproof)
  • Natural Collection Lashcurl
  • 17 Waterproof

Ok so maybe not as many as I thought, but still alot when you consider that I don't use them very often!!! OOopppsssss...............

I have heard good things about this one and I am looking forward to using it................ :)

Yup I have to agree, I most definitely do!!!! :D

Thanks for stopping by! Please leave a comment as I do read and appreciate every single one!

Thanks again,

Sarah xoxo

  3. Hi!

If you're not to keen on poking yourself in the eye with eyeliner, what I do to avoid it is to drag my eye down a lil bit, and color the inside with a blunt pencil! Although, I might just use a blunt pencil as I hate sharpening..

'Rimmel Day 2 Night Mascara' is also very nice! With two different brushes, so would save space as it's a two for oner :D
