Meet the Blogger!I have decided to start a new series here on Writing & Rambling after meeting so many lovely bloggers on Twitter. I thought I would like to get to know them a bit better. So I am going to try to recruit as many as I can to my new 'Meet the Blogger' Series as I think everyone deserves a chance to be in the spotlight. =)
First up we have the lovely Katie Scott from Blooming Fiction!
Thank you so much for letting me join in with this great series :D
Q1: Hello there, nice to have you here on Writing & Rambling! Please could you introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about your Blog:
My name is Katie Scott and I'm a freelance copywriter and blogger. My corner of the web is Bookabie, the book blog. With a magazine look, Bookabie is a little different to personal blogs as all posts are visible in picture form instead of scrolling down through 5 posts on a page.
Q2: At what point did you decide to make a Blog and share it with the world??
I started blogging in June this year when my copywriting tasks weren't as fruitful as I would have liked. Starting a blog meant I could continue writing but on topics I loved. I started off with a beauty blog but soon realised that this wasn't my fortay and my true love was books. This change happened in November 2015 and is already outperforming the former blog.
Q3: How would you describe your writing style? Has it changed over time at all?
Once upon a time my writing style was informative and to the point. It then turned to a passively friendly tone which was really laid back. However these days I write as I speak. Though Bookabie is not a personal blog it still has personal opinions which reflect my views of the books I read.
Q4: Was there anyone in particular who inspired you? Which Bloggers do you emulate?
There's no in particular person or blogger who inspires the posts I write. I'm a regular user of Bloglovin to see what other book bloggers are writing but for inspiration I look in book stores to see the reads of the season. I like creating new posts to make books more relatable in a technology crazed era so any inspiration I use is normally found away from a screen.
Q5: Do you have anything in the pipeline on the Blog which you are particularly excited about?!
Bookabie is still in it's very early stages but I have high hopes for it in 2016. Already lined up are 4 virtual book blog tours in January and February, in which readers can see some new books first hand before they are released. Further into the year Bookabie will host a giveaway or two and publish some regular guest posts. If Bookabie surpasses all expectations there is also a chance for some videos too.
Q6: Does anyone else know about your Blog? What do they think about it??
My blog has reached a large amount of people away from the blogging scene to be honest. My husband is always supportive of what I do and close friends make suggestions as to what books I could include. Apart from that the support from social media is incredible and I look forward to working with bloggers throughout the year.
Q7: Are you obessed with Lush!?!? If YES what is your favourite product?
Yes!!! I absolutely love LUSH products and only bought some today from the Christmas sale. I've used lots of their products but my favourites are the bath bombs and bubble bars. I'm a bath lady instead of a shower lover so all the gorgeous bath bombs are perfect for me. I'm currently loving the Frozen bath bomb.
Q8: Has your Blog helped you in other areas of life?!
Blogging has helped me to work on my writing style and to be more confident in what I do. Most of my family are number crunchers or performers so being a writer means not many people I know get it. I love writing and reading so by creating and running Bookabie I have learnt that it's okay to be different and I've made many blogging friends in the process.
Q9: What is it that makes you so fabulous?!
I don't think anyone would call me fabulous but I'm open, honest and nice as punch. Although I'm quite shy in person I'm a chatty peep online and love it when readers say hi. I'm a message me any time kind of person.
Q10: Finally, can you recommened anything to us today!? (Skincare/Beauty/Tv Show/DVD/Music/Food Item...anything!)
I recommend all sorts to everyone! For TV I'm hooked on Once Upon A Time ( found on Netflix ), beauty wise I have just discovered the glory of Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish and for a random try this I definitely think you haven't lived until you've tried fish fingers and custard.
So that concludes our 'Meet the Blogger' for today! Thank You so Much for taking the time to answer these questions today, much appreciated!
Please take the time to check out Katie's blog/twitter and be sure to leave a comment saying you found them via Writing & Rambling! Thank You!!
