Meet The Blogger Series - Interview 26

Meet the Blogger!

I have decided to start a new series here on Writing & Rambling after meeting so many lovely bloggers on Twitter I would like to get to know them. So I am going to try to recruit as many as I can as I think everyone deserves a chance to be in the spotlight. =)

Q1: Hello there, nice to have you here on Writing & Rambling! Please could you introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about your Blog:

A1: Hi. My name is Itumeleng Matlare but I go by “snobwithablog”. I’m a South African lifestyle blogger who lives in Johannesburg. I guess my blog is all about sharing my personal experiences on a social platform. It’s a little like a “Dear Diary” type of set up but I mainly give advice on how to deal with situations that many people don’t really talk about. I kinda have no filter.

Q2: At what point did you decide to make a Blog and share it with the world??

I’ve always wanted to start a blog. I love writing (I studied creative writing at university) and thought I was pretty good at it so I thought “why not share my thoughts and ramblings with the world”. I’ve been blogging for less than a year now but as challenging as it is, I love it!

Q3: How would you describe your writing style? Has it changed over time at all?

Like I said it’s really casual. I write like I talk so it’s informal. I feel like it gives my audience a more personal experience and a look into who I am as a person. I guess it’s like having a conversation with me but I’m doing all the talking (which is pretty much what happens in real life anyway). I would say it has evolved over time. I think the more I write the more I come into my own and learn to relate to people all over the world.

Q4: Was there anyone in particular who inspired you? Which Bloggers do you emulate?

Honestly, I don’t try and emulate any bloggers. I feel like the blogging market is so saturated that I needed to find my niche and differentiate myself from what's out there already. Funnily enough, my mother is my inspiration. She’s spent her entire life giving me life lessons (and telling me what to do) so I thought I’d follow her lead but just do it on a social platform.

Q5: Do you have anything in the pipeline on the Blog which you are particularly excited about?!

I’ve started working with more brands, particularly apps. It’s all very exciting but really crazy. I guess when you write for your own blog you’re really just trying to impress yourself but when you write for others you get a little more nervous. I’ve recently signed a contract with MadMash (a South African lifestyle app) as a style contributor. I’m really excited to see what that brings.

Q6: Does anyone else know about your Blog? What do they think about it??

Friends and family I guess. They’re probably my biggest fans and liken me to Bridget Jones (not sure if that’s a compliment or not but I’ll take it). Other than that I’m sure I have a fan or two somewhere in the world.

Q7: Are you obsessed with Lush!?!? If YES what is your favourite product?!

I actually didn’t try any Lush products for a long time but then my younger sister (who is beyond obsessed with Lush) got me into it and now most of my allowance goes towards smelling like something edible (which I love by the way). My favourite product would be their Mask of Magnaminty. It’s an amazing face mask that always leaves my skin looking and feeling great. The mint is refreshing and definitely helps with the awful bags I get under my eyes (no I’m not a party girl, I’m an insomniac)

Q8: Has your Blog helped you in other areas of life?!

A8: Yes actually. It’s surprising how many people respond well to it when I put it on job applications. I suppose it’s a conversation starter. I’ve also been approached (mainly in the club) by people who either read my blog or follow me on Twitter or Instagram. I must admit it’s weird but it’s great to see that people actually like what I say.

Q9: What is it that makes you so fabulous?!

Ok now you’re going to get the real snob in me to come out. I guess it’s actually everything that makes me who I am. My ability to dress well (I think my life is a special occasion so why not), my honesty (which isn’t for everyone but I don’t really care) and my lifestyle in general. I’ve been fortunate to have been born into luxury and have no shame in taking advantage of it.

Q10: Finally, can you recommened anything to us today!? (Skincare/Beauty/TV Show/DVD/Music/Food Item...anything!)

Wow, this is a tough one. I guess I’d have to stick to fashion (my passion). You can never have too many white t-shirts. They’re a basic that everyone (girls and guys) need. A lot of the time when I’m struggling with what to wear, a white t-shirt, jeans and Converse AllStars always look good. Oh, and everyone should invest in a good leather jacket. They never go out of style.

So that concludes our 'Meet the Blogger' for today! Thank You so Much for taking the time to answer these questions today, much appreciated!

Please take the time to check out the blog/Twitter/Facebook/Instagram etc, be sure to leave a comment saying you found them via Writing & Rambling! Thank You!!
