A Guest Post From Abbey Louisa Rose!Back in June I wrote this post about being thankful and it's had such an amazing reaction, I have decided to ask my beautiful blogger friends to contribute their own 'Thankful' Post to carry on the theme. Today I have the beautiful Abbey Louisa Rose with her own take on 'Being Thankful', please read, enjoy, comment and send her some love. Thank You Abbey...
It’s very easy to focus on what you don’t have, or what you feel is lacking from your life. You don’t have Kim Kardashian’s booty. You don’t have 2 million Twitter followers. You don’t have infinity money. Well, me neither! But let’s take a few minutes just to focus on what we do have! I’ll be sharing five things that I’m really thankful for, which I hope will inspire you to think along the same lines.
This can come from anyone and anywhere! It might be a total stranger’s sweet comment on your latest blog post. It might be the cup of tea that your Mum made for you this morning. It might be a smile from a randomer as you walk down the street. Kindness is everywhere – you just have to look for it! And if you can’t find any kindness in the world right now, why not be the kind person that the universe is missing? Do something nice for somebody and that kindness will be paid back to you.
If, like me, you live in the UK, sometimes this is in very short supply. But I find that this makes me all the more thankful when we experience a beautifully sunny day, with a clear blue sky and only the occasional puffy white cloud. A gorgeous red and orange sunset is definitely another thing to be appreciated, as is the sunrise, if you’re an early bird! Feeling the sun on your face is a wonderful sensation, and certainly something I feel thankful for.
3) Tough times
Yep, you heard me right, I’m even grateful for the tough times I’ve experienced. Through challenging experiences and hard situations, we learn and grow. The less-than-ideal positions you’ve been in throughout your life have led you to become the strong person that you are today, and that is worth cherishing and being thankful for. Tough times teach us that although the going is occasionally rough, we will come out the other side better than ever before. You cannot be thankful for smooth sailing if you’ve never experienced stormy sea.
4) Your senses
How would you enjoy that gorgeous scented candle, or the aroma of coffee in the morning without your sense of smell? How would you savour the flavour of your favourite chocolate, or a delicious cheesy pizza without your sense of taste? How would you appreciate the soft fluff of a kitten’s fur, or the feeling of fresh bed-sheets on bare legs without your sense of touch? Being able to appreciate the world around you is always something to be thankful for.
5) Your bed
Can you guess where I was sitting when I wrote this post? In my mind, there’s nothing better than snuggling up in your own bed at night. I don’t realize how thankful I am for it until I go away for a few days and can’t sleep there! It’s pure bliss to be surrounded by your blankets, cushions, and teddy bears. Your bed is your own little haven, and it’s also a place where you can lie back and think of all the things you’re grateful for, before you drift off into slumber.
Are you thankful for any of these things too? Share what you’re grateful for in the comments below, and don’t forget to check out my blog at www.abbeylouisarose.co.uk
