#MeetTheBlogger Series Interview 44

Meet the Blogger!

I have decided to start a new series here on Writing & Rambling after meeting so many lovely bloggers on Twitter I would like to get to know them. So I am going to try to recruit as many as I can as I think everyone deserves a chance to be in the spotlight.

Q1: Hello there, nice to have you here on Writing & Rambling! Please could you introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about your Blog:

Thanks for having me! I'm known by many names: Tiger Oliver, the Thunderbastard on Tumblr, YouTube Tiger vs. Games, Oklahoma resident hobbit and several more that aren't fit for print.

My blog on Tumblr is a hodgepodge of peculiar personal perspectives on life, the universe, and everything. I do promote my YouTube channel on there, as well as post quirky images & self photos from Instagram. Yes, I don't call them selfies. I loathe that damn term.

Q2: At what point did you decide to make a Blog and share it with the world??

I've always wanted to write in some form. From those emo junior high days on Xanga (back when we had to dial into the internet (oh, were those dark times) to eventually finding my way on Tumblr a couple years ago, I've had an inner story that I wanted to share to the world. I've not have tales of wanderlust, nor exciting stories of glamorous fashion, just my viewpoint on existence and its maddening happenings.

After spending five years in radio and a short stint writing for The Daily Oklahoman, I have learned that there's some messages that can't be conveyed talking into a microphone for over one hundred-thousand people. There are some points you cannot make ranting in front of a webcam for the masses to overlook on YouTube. There are some subjects you can't put in the pages of a newspaper. Sometimes, you have to write on your own terms on pen-and-paper or in a text box.

Q3: How would you describe your writing style? Has it changed over time at all?

I'd say it has become refined more than it has changed. I have the uncanny ability to write exactly as I talk. I can be eloquent at times, yet be straight to the point at others. I can be conversational in my commentary, yet wisdom flows straight to the soul when serious. Somehow, my sometimes-incessant raging at the mystifying ignorance of humanity comes out like a novel.

That, or maybe I'm just talking out my ass. I usually let readers take my style as they will.

Q4: Was there anyone in particular who inspired you? Which Bloggers do you emulate?

Oh gods. My commentary style was heavily inspired at first by a man who ran the MySpace page MANtana. Think Lewis Black if he went to 4chan in its heyday, and you pretty much have his style nailed. I tried blatantly ripping his style off at first, but I couldn't quite match his wit as a humble high school loser. Over the years, as my writing and life views matured, I found that smart-ass style often bled into everything: my radio personality, blogging, YouTube, everything.

Q5: Do you have anything in the pipeline on the Blog which you are particularly excited about?!

I'm working on an indie film this summer called Retribution, so I am excited to be able to post behind-the-scenes happenings. Apart from that, just getting more active on it and seeing if I can get beyond a niche audience. Even if that means migrating from Tumblr to a more blog-centric platform.

Q6: Does anyone else know about your Blog? What do they think about it??

Family, friends, some random people online. Most of them love it, some of my family found out that I have a dark sense of humour that rubs their ultra-conservative Christian values the wrong way.

Q7: Are you obsessed with Lush!?!? If YES what is your favourite product?!

Haha, I don't think I fit their clientele. Although, I probably could rock some makeup with my kilt.

Q8: Has your Blog helped you in other areas of life?!

Definitely. It allows me to learn how to communicate my thoughts clearly, especially since I have a tendency to think faster than I can talk. Being able to convey clear thoughts is more liberating than rambling on the radio or YouTube.

Q9: What is it that makes you so fabulous?!

I'm a damn hobbit! What more do you need?!

In all honestly, I think it's the fact that I have an open mind about everything, almost to the point of being laissez faire. Plus, I'm a smart-ass geek with a dark sense of humour.

Q10: Finally, can you recommended anything to us today!?

First off, check out the blog at thethunderbastard.tumblr.com for blogs every Saturday for peculiar personal perspectives on life, the universe, and everything. While I'm at it, find me on Twitter & Instagram at @thetigeroliver.

Next, check out Tiger vs. Games on YouTube (Tiger vs Games), where I review indie games from across the internet.

Thirdly, follow Sanitarium Pictures on Tumblr (http://sanitariumpictures.tumblr.com/) for all the updates for Retribution, which is coming to Kickstarter this summer. Without a doubt, this is going to be a blockbuster project that deserves your attention.

Finally, I highly recommend you tip your bartenders and your waitresses, support your local indie game developers, and, as always ya'll take it easy.

So that concludes our 'Meet the Blogger' for today! Thank You so Much for taking the time to answer these questions today, much appreciated!

Please take the time to check out the blog/Twitter/Facebook/Instagram etc, be sure to leave a comment saying you found them via Writing & Rambling! Thank You!!

Love,
Sarah
