#MeetTheBlogger Series - Interview 54

I have decided to start a new series here on Writing & Rambling after meeting so many lovely bloggers on Twitter I would like to get to know them. So I am going to try to recruit as many as I can as I think everyone deserves a chance to be in the spotlight!

Q1: Hello there, nice to have you here on Writing & Rambling! Please could you introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about your Blog:
I’m Victoria Turner, a 30 something year old blogger living in (what I think) the best town in the world, Harrogate. My day job consists of working for Bettys & Taylors, eating cake and drinking copious amounts of Yorkshire Tea! Working in the PR & Communications department was what inspired me to blog after an event we held in London with super professional and ever so polished bloggers such as Josie from Fashion Mumblr and Katie Matthews. Setting up The Harrogate Girl a year ago I started to write about my life, hobbies and interests. It soon became popular and now I love the interaction with the people of Harrogate and far beyond it.

Q2: At what point did you decide to make a Blog and share it with the world??
It was a very quick decision… I tend to fly by the seat of my pants so it took all night but by 4am I’d designed my logo, built my website and was pressing LIVE! I had no idea if anyone would read my blog but they did so I carried on writing.

Q3: How would you describe your writing style? Has it changed over time at all?
Rubbish! In school I was classed as being borderline dyslexic. Everything was a struggle; I hated exams and reading aloud gave me nightmares! However my parents never gave up and hired an English teacher to help with my stumbling blocks. Who knew that today I’d be working in communications and have a blog! The blog has certainly helped develop my writing style and get over my fear of writing. I still get things wrong, my spelling and grammar are nowhere near perfect but that’s part of me and I wouldn’t be half as creative without having dyslexia.
Q4: Was there anyone in particular who inspired you? Which Bloggers do you emulate?
Mmmm, I’m not sure. Although I love reading other blogs I tend not to look to emulate any of them… The Harrogate Girl is me and should be unique to me. I do love ‘slow living’ blogs such as Me & Orla; Sarah’s style and image creations are beautiful.
Q5: Do you have anything in the pipeline on the Blog which you are particularly excited about?!
I have a few things in the pipeline. It feels like it’s the year for travelling as I’m planning a feature on Florence, Edinburgh and a few more Yorkshire hotels. I also want to work with more Harrogate businesses as it’s so important to feature what makes our Harrogate town so great!
Q6: Does anyone else know about your Blog? What do they think about it??
I hope people know about my blog, otherwise all those posts are sitting there unread! Work have been great about my blog. It really feels like a two way thing; I’ve learnt so much, made so many connections which I’ve utilised at work. My family and friend just laugh at me as they love to hear all about my trials and tribulations. My mum took a little longer to get used to the fact that I was talking about every aspect of my life but now she’s on board and even helps with my admin.
Q7: Are you obsessed with Lush!?If YES what is your favourite product?!
Sadly I’m not. I’ve never really been into products… I love spas, facials and massages but give me a beauty product and I’m not sure what to do with it!
Q8: Has your Blog helped you in other areas of life?!
Yes, it most certainly has. I actually met my Boyfriend through my blog after my Digital SEO Agency, Raindrop introduced us on a night out. Niki and I have been together since September and we’ve seen each other every weekend which has really unusual for me as I tend to like my own company. I’d also say blogging has allowed me to learn so much more about the place I live. I’ve always loved Harrogate but there is so much more to it than meets the eye.
Q9: What is it that makes you so fabulous?!
I’m not sure I am fabulous. I’m just me. I really believe in being comfortable in your own skin, being kind to others and not taking life too seriously.
Q10: Finally, can you recommened anything to us today!? (Skincare/Beauty/Tv Show/DVD/Music/Food Item...anything!)
I can recommend so much… I’d say most of it is on my blog! If you want a foodie experience head to Horto at Rudding Park; for a massage hook up with Fiona at Complete Calm Therapy; and for entertainment you have to do a glass fusing course with The Glasshouse.

So that concludes our 'Meet the Blogger' for today! Thank You so Much for taking the time to answer these questions today, much appreciated!
Please take the time to check out the blog/Twitter/Facebook/Instagram etc, be sure to leave a comment saying you found them via Writing & Rambling! Thank You!!
