Guest Post!
Hello there lovelies :0)

My name is Donna and I write Not Just On The Inside ( and I'm delighted/nervous to be doing my first ever guest post for Sarah, after a lot of thought  about what to write about, I thought a skincare post may appeal to you, but to be more specific its tips and tricks for looking after oily skin.

My skin throws out more oil than that BP oil spilly disaster thingy and I find it a nightmare trying to keep make up in place, but over the years I have picked up some tricks to help control the shine.

Face Masks: I use clay or mud masks once a week to give a really deep cleanse and I have even made my own masks on occasion, let me share my recipe.. Blend together half a cup of oatmeal with 1 big spoon of lemon juice and 2 Big spoons of plain yoghurt, apply to skin and leave for 15 mins before rinsing.

Take a look at your diet: Oily skin can be caused by a deficiency in vitamins B5 and B2 so try to eat more beans, nuts and whole grains.

Dont skip the moisturiser: I did this for years but it seems most brands have brought out there own versions of mattifying creams a good one I have tried is Vichy Normaderm Total Mat

Use a gentle toner: Harsh toners can strip the skin causing it to produce even more oil, Liz Earle Skin boost is perfect as its gentle yet effective

Prime skin before foundation: There are bucket loads of primers for oily skin out there, I have developed my own little pre-make up ritual which goes a little something like this.. Spritz Urban Decay De-Slick all over face, wait to dry, apply primer (No7 shine free or Clarins instant smooth) and spritz again with the De-Slick then apply foundation.

I hope you have find some of my tips useful and if you have any questions please leave a comment and Ill check back through out the day :)

  1. Good advice! I suffer from the dreaded oily skin sometimes too and I find regular face masks, a gentle cleanser and toner and using a mattifying moisturiser helps me too! :)

  2. Great guest post, don't think I could live without my moisturiser!

  3. I think I need to use a primer more often! This post was useful :) xxx

    1. Thanks Hollie! :) :) I love the L'Oreal Studio Professional Primer a bit on the 'high-er end' scale at £14 I think but Sssoooo worth it! Check out my post 'Make Up can make a girl so happy' to see a review! :D x
