The British Tag

There is nothing more British than a red phone box! Even if said red phone box happens to be in the middle of Sydney, Australia!!! :)

Hello there! I was wondering what to Post this week and whilst seeking inspiration, I came across this post on Tink Jayne's site - The British Tag! So I thought, why not?? I am British, I love all things British and it may just provide an insight into my life which you haven't seen before! :)

How many cups of tea do you have a day and how many sugars?

Well this depends as I drink varying amounts of, and differing types of tea depending on what mood I'm in, the time of day.....But on the whole, I'd say about 3 or 4 in a normal day and these could either be normal tea (so PG Tips or the like) or Green Tea, or even a Chai!! I take milk with normal tea but absolutely NO sugar in ANY tea please!!! Thanks! :) X

What is your favourite dunking biscuit?

OOoo, I do love a good Hob-Nob but I also love a good Bourbon biscuit too! But the classics are the best so I'll go for a Digestive or a Rich Tea!

What is your favourite part of a roast dinner?

I love it all but I would have to say definitely the Yorkshire Pudding with added golden syrup and gravy!!!!! I know I know, you're all saying 'with gravy AND syrup???!' But yes, I have been having mine this way for as long as I can remember and I'm not about to start now! I love it and I also love putting the excess syrup over the rest of my dinner.....!

What is your favourite quintessentially British pastime?

For this one, I would have to say stopping to have tea & cake in the afternoon! :D YUM!! I love the fact that we Brits love our cake so much (and scones too!) and take the art of Afternoon Tea so seriously! For me, the best is served at Betty's in Harrogate.

What is your favourite British word?

I don't think I have one!!!

Do you know any cockney rhyming slang?

Yes, Apples & Pears = Stairs, Monkey = Grand, Mince Pies = Eyes.

What is your favourite sweet?

I think i'm going to go traditional here and say the good old apple and rhubarb sweet! Or even a Pear Drop! YUM! Memories of long car journeys right there!

What would your pub be called?

Haven't ever really thought about this but I do remember seeing an eatery in Australia (Melbourne I feel...?!) called 'Flunch' (as in what's for lunch?) So probably that! It would serve traditional British food, tea with scones and jam and cream, lots of Pimms, yummy roast dinners, apple crumbles with custard and there would be apple bobbing happening in the spacious beer garden and punting on the river outside! Ok, well, it seems as though I HAVE thought about it, albeit in my subconscious!

Who is your favourite British person?

Without a doubt, The Queen !

What British songs pop into your head?

Blur and Park Life, "All the people, so many people, they all go hand in hand, hand in hand, through their Park Life...."

Pulp & Common People " You want to sleep with common people, you want to sleep with common people, like me. But she didn't understand she just smiled and took my hand...."

What is your favourite British shop and restaurant?

Restaurant would hands down have to be the Award Winning Fish & Chip Shop we went to in Whitby quite a few years ago! It was TO DIE FOR!!!!!!

As for British Shop, I don't think I've ever seen one but I do love all the old style traditional sweet shops there are around! I just feel like a child again whenever I walk into one.....YUM!

Marmite, yes or no?

OOOhhh YES!!!!! I love spreading it on the toast that I am then going to put either baked beans on top of, or spaghetti hoops!!! YUM!!!!!! LOVE IT! Also love it on the soldiers to dip in the egg!

Thanks for reading.
