'Tis The Season To Be....' Oh Just Shut Up Already!!!

Sunday, 22 November 2015

Today I would like to talk to you about Christmas, some things which bug me and some things which I love so get comfy, grab a drink (festive or not, up to you!) and get stuck in!!

First things first, I have to have a bit of a moan. I’ll do this first so I can get it out of the way! One thing which I HATE about Christmas is, how early it seems to come each year. Like I swear, as soon as Halloween is over, the shops are like ‘right, Christmas is next lets get everything in RIGHT NOW!!!’ UGH! Do they not realise that it’s almost another 2 months away and we really don’t need to have it thrust down our throats as soon as!? Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the festive season and all the comes along with that, what I don’t like is having it everywhere ssoo early on…….give me time to get November over with before you start putting up all your decorations and playing Christmas songs in your shops OK?!

Secondly, there comes the people who go OTT with their own decorations on their house…..Oh dear.. Already around where I live there is at least one house which has gone festive already!!! Why do people feel the need to a) cover their whole house and garden in horrendous plastic looking stantas, reindeers etc….. and b) get them out at the beginning of November???? What is wrong with these people!?!?? I just don’t like it when I’m driving around in mid-November seeing all these decorations out…….ugh! GO AWAY!!!!

But all that being said, I do absolutely LOVE Christmas! (At the appropriate time of course!!) I love getting the trees out, finding all the decorations from years gone by and deciding what colour themes to go with. We have two trees, one big one in our dining room and a smaller one in our front room. I usually decorate the smaller one, which I love doing, and I do it whilst watching a Christmas film! Decorating the bigger tree usually involves Mum, Dad and myself as it is so big and takes a lot to get out the box, put together, straighten out the branches, put the lights on and of course, putting the fairy atop her tree!

Christmas TV is usually pretty good, I say usually because some years it has been pretty dire, with repeat after repeat of old TV shows and old films. BLAH! There are some films which say ‘It’s Christmas’ and which I DO love to watch, some of my favourites being ‘Miracle on 34th Street’, ‘Elf’, ‘The Snowman’ & ‘‘Polar Express’ (thanks to my sister Mel for introducing me to that one!) There’s nothing better than decorating the tree whilst watching a festive film!!! #Bliss

A Christmas tradition we have in our house involves my sister and I waking up and taking our stockings into our parent’s bedroom and opening up our presents whilst sipping on some delicious Bucks Fizz!!! YUM! We always open our main presents after breakfast when we’re all dressed too…...some years I would love it if we could do this whilst still in our PJs, but hey! Can’t have everything I guess!

Festive drinks, love them or hate them? Personally I can’t see the point of Gingerbread/Pumpkin Lattes and non-alcoholic grape flavoured mulled juice thing from Starbucks……..I have actually tried the Pumpkin Latte and personally I cannot taste the pumpkin in it, so it’s a bit lost on me really!

Just give me a hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream on anyday!

My favourite festive drink and since Autumn started I have virtually been drinking nothing else!! (Except tea of course, there must always be tea......!)

This time of year for me calls for hot chocolate. I can’t get enough of the stuff!! #favouritehotdrink

Right, I think I’ve rambled on enough here..I’ll let you get back to playing Christmas songs in the middle of November, decorating your garden in plastic santas, adorning your house in a million lights whilst stopping in between to drink a pumpkin spiced non-alcoholic grape flavoured not really mulled wine, wine with added Gingerbread-ness!!!!!

Happy Holidays!
Sarah xoxo
