#SmallBiz
Series!
Hello
there!
I have decided to start another new series on my Blog, this time
focussing on small businesses. Being a blogger I am regularly put in
touch with owners of small businesses and it is a really enjoyable
part of being a blogger. Whether it be reviewing a product, service
or finding a new company which sells fashion at an affordable price,
there
is often a small team of people behind it, plugging away, putting in
the late nights and the early mornings trying everything to make a
success out of their little business. I do feel, that as bloggers we
do owe some responsibility to them as more and more of them are
turning to Twitter and bloggers alike to promote themselves. Plus, I
think it's fun being one of only a handful of bloggers lucky enough
to discover a burgeoning business and getting to trial some of their
products! Or is that just me!?
I
have found all of the business I'll be featuring on twitter, under
the hashtag #smallbiz as that is where they were all hiding! To start
with, I'll be featuring a couple of the small businesses I've already
come into contact with, as that way I hope that a few of you will
have already heard of them too!
So
if you like finding new places to buy fashion, beauty or a present
for your loved one, sit back, grab a cuppa and read on!

Today
I want to introduce 'Bonfire Cherry',
a small business that produces unique products such as prints, tote
bags, brooches and notebooks using the printing method called 'lino
cut.'
Started
in 2008/2009 as part of his
final year Graphic's project and utlising the skills he had learnt
during his course, Matthew took the brave step to launch it as a
viable business. He
had tried to do this before starting college but felt he was not
ready, financially, to do so.
Being brave enough to use his Graphic's
course as a Launchpad, he now sells his designs online and is
currently trying to launch his Coastal Project. He wants to place
prints of coastal towns onto tote bags and currently has 3 signed up but needs more to fulfil his brief!
Personally, I'd love a
tote bag or a print of the coastal town i'd visited as a little
memento of the trip. (Read more here
As
a creative person Matthew
always
likes
to get his
ideas out of his
mind and onto something tangible
and in this case it is prints. The
first
time he
tried lino-cut he
wasn't too
successful, but tenacious he never gave up and luckily for him, he
believes
his
skills have improved! Sometimes
it's not how hard we fall, but how many times we get back up that
determines success.
As
you can see from his designs, he puts a lot of work into each
individual design and the results speak for themselves. I'm sure
Matthew would be only too happy to help you if you had a particular
print or design in mind. That way you can be sure of getting a
one-of-a-kind design that will make you the envy of all of your
friends! I'm sure he'd even do a Blogger related one if you asked him
nicely! ;0)
As
these designs show, hard work and dedication can get you anywhere! I
highly suggest you take a look at his website and have a flick
through his designs! I'd love to know which one you'd go for! Would
you be more inclined to get a print done, or is a tote bag more your
thing?!? Personally I love the prints as I'm always on the lookout
for more art to put on my walls. What image would you have printed
up?? Anything special in mind? Let me know!
Love,
Sarah
