#SmallBiz Series!

Hello there! I have decided to start another new series on my Blog, this time focussing on small businesses. Being a blogger I am regularly put in touch with owners of small businesses and it is a really enjoyable part of being a blogger. Whether it be reviewing a product, service or finding a new company which sells fashion at an affordable price, there is often a small team of people behind it, plugging away, putting in the late nights and the early mornings trying everything to make a success out of their little business. I do feel, that as bloggers we do owe some responsibility to them as more and more of them are turning to Twitter and bloggers alike to promote themselves. Plus, I think it's fun being one of only a handful of bloggers lucky enough to discover a burgeoning business and getting to trial some of their products! Or is that just me!?
I have found all of the business I'll be featuring on twitter, under the hashtag #smallbiz as that is where they were all hiding! To start with, I'll be featuring a couple of the small businesses I've already come into contact with, as that way I hope that a few of you will have already heard of them too!

So if you like finding new places to buy fashion, beauty or a present for your loved one, sit back, grab a cuppa and read on!

Today I'd like to introduce you to The Candle Barn, a homemade, 100% Eco-Soy Wax candle and wax melt company! It was Lorraine's daughter Emma who had the original idea for the Candle Barn as they both really enjoyed using and making candles but wanted something natural, non-toxic that her other daughter Victoria, a vegan, could use too!

It started with a few gifts for friends and family and it grew organically from there. Starting their Etsy page in November of 2014 to gauge interest, it was July 2015 when it was started as a business proper. They are based in Cumbria and currently work from home, although that may soon change as it seems to be taking over the house!

They knew they wanted their products to have a rustic feel to it and they are made from 100% wax which is paraffin and palm oil free! (Yay to saving orang-utans!) The scents are paraben free and none of their ingredients are neither animal derived or tested on! (Yay to bunnies!)

They added unscented tea-lights and scented wax melts to their range as well as the screw top and clip top jar candles. Most of the products are made to order as they offer a large range of scents and they can be personalised to make gifts extra special too! Perfect as a wedding favour, the ribbons and scents can be matched to the wedding theme, with the tag being personalised uniquely to you.

Lorraine was kind enough to send me one of her glass jar geranium scented candles for this post and first I have to say that it came very well wrapped up and protected in all its packagings! No breakages here!

I love the rustic twine and label adorning the top of the candle. The label on the top denoting where it's from is handy to note. Underneath it comes with all the usual warnings and burning instructions.

The scent is neither overpowering nor barely there. There are over 40 scents to choose from there's bound to be one which appeals to your nose. I thought geranium would be too flowery/soapy but it is very pleasant and reminds me of a garden in full bloom.
I love the classic look of this candle, from the natural twine to the simplistic look of the jar. It would definitely not look out of place on your dressing table or even in the background to your blog photos! You can choose which colour to have the lid, either gold/silver so you really can match it to your d├ęcor!
This hessian bag gift set, with 2 scented soy wax candles in clip top jars retails at £12 plus shipping. The large jar retails for £7, the small jar is £3.50 and a small scented soy wax candle in a glass clip top jar retails at £4 (all plus shipping - £2.85 in the UK & £8 elsewhere). So you see they're all very reasonably priced and you can safe in the knowledge that your candle will be arriving safely wrapped up and secured.
So, if you're looking for that perfect gift for a friend's birthday, or are after a uniquely bespoke wedding favour, then I highly suggest you take a quick look at The Candle Barn. You will not be disappointed! So much choice, in design, scents/unscented, anything you want really. Talk to Lorraine as I'm sure she'll be able to come up with something unique for you.
I adore candles and I am so grateful to Lorraine to sending out my very own geranium candle. I know I will be enjoy burning it, but for now it's too pretty to burn so I shall probably be featuring it in the background to my blog pictures!

Let me know if you do go over and check out her site, I'd love to know which one you'd pick up! Do you have a favourite scent when it comes to candles?? Are you more of a fruity/flowery scent lover or do you love the spicier/woodier scents??? Let me know in the comments!
