#SmallBiz Series Part 20 - Featuring Beauty Kitchen*

Thursday, 4 August 2016

Hello there! I have decided to start another new series on my Blog, this time focusing on small businesses. Being a blogger I am regularly put in touch with owners of small businesses and it is a really enjoyable part of being a blogger. Whether it be reviewing a product, service or finding a new company which sells fashion at an affordable price, there is often a small team of people behind it, plugging away, putting in the late nights and the early mornings trying everything to make a success out of their little business. I do feel, that as bloggers we do owe some responsibility to them as more and more of them are turning to Twitter and bloggers alike to promote themselves. Plus, I think it's fun being one of only a handful of bloggers lucky enough to discover a burgeoning business and getting to trial some of their products! Or is that just me!?

I have found all of the business I'll be featuring on twitter, under the hashtag #smallbiz as that is where they were all hiding! To start with, I'll be featuring a couple of the small businesses I've already come into contact with, as that way I hope that a few of you will have already heard of them too!

Hello and welcome back to another installment of my Small Biz Series! Today I am very excited to bring you Beauty Kitchen, a 100% natural British based beauty company! Beauty Kitchen was created by Jo-Anne Chidley who studied Chemistry, is a Herbal Botanist, bee-keeper and beauty product enthusiast.

In 2010 Jo-Anne Chidley opened the first Beauty Kitchen in Glasgow to create 100% effective, natural, everyday luxury beauty products - with a sprinkle of fun and a big dollop of transparency! Jo-Anne had previously found that products were not as natural as they liked us to believe, plus they were uninspiring and and over-priced! Not what women want I can tell you!

Beauty Kitchen has continued to source innovative Sustainable Beauty ingredients to create effective natural products and has taught over 5,000 people how to make their own along the way! Only a few billion people left to reach to make Sustainable beauty a reality for everyone!!

I was very kindly sent this Brightening & Toning Body Wash, with the highly rejuvenating and firming body wash, loaded with renewable, moisturising and skin purifying algae oil, anti-oxidants, Vitamin C, Grapefuit and Lemongrass! It smells incredible and definitely perks me up everytime I use it!

Beauty Kitchen go above and beyond when it comes to being sustainable and 100% natural. Their mantra is "100% makes a difference" and they check everything they do against it. Even their labels on their products are made from waste limestone rock, making them carbon neutral and uses no trees, water or bleach which makes it super sustainable! Amazing ay!?

ZIWA Rhino Sanctuary - Uganda. A minimum of 10% of all Beauty Kitchen's profits are donated to this fund to help protect the Ziwa Rhino, which, until 1997 were extinct in Uganda when Ziwa started with 4 donated Rhinos. They have grown the Rhino population to 15 Rhinos so far. Every Rhino has a 24 hour armed guard to protect it from poachers and Beauty kitchen hope their donations go just a little way to helping their project to be even more successful.

On top of the products being 100% natural, sustainable, ethical and organic, every single product is always people tested and never ever tested on any bunnies!! This company just gets better and better!!!

I love using this shower gel, it is quite different to my other ones but I guess that's all the ingredients working together! It smells great, full of natural grapefruit and lemongrass and the toning aspect of it works well but I do find it quite drying but perhaps I need to get used to it??? Who knows! I do love it though and the fact that it is 100% natural and the whole company is so ethical just makes me smile inside so much!!

All the products from Beauty Kitchen are suitable for all my vegan friends (except their Wonder Balms which contain beeswax)  and those of you who are going cruelty free. They have a wide range of products ranging from Facial Cleansing Balm and Moisture Cream, Abyssinian Oil Facial Concentrate, Triple Action Hand Wash and of course their 60 second Manicure which was featured on ITV's This Morning!!! :O

So you may be wondering what is a natural ingredient?? Well, The Soil Association states that "strict EU laws ensure any food product labelled organic meets legal standards and is independently certified by a recognised body. Unfortunately there are no EU regulations concerning the labelling of organic or natural beauty products."

Beauty Kitchen's definition "is that an ingredient is only natural if it has not been through many synthetic chemical processes and has only been through one or two natural processes". Sounds about right to me!

Natural has become the buzz word in beauty for brands to use, but sadly, it doesn't always stand true. There's no legal certification, regulation in place for natural beauty. This means that any brand can make a natural claim, no matter what ingredients are used! Disgraceful that we're being duped like this if you think about it!! It could be as little as 1% natural which begs the question " what is the other 99% made up of?!"

Beauty Kitchen believes that only 100% natural is good enough. 100% makes a difference. 100% natural, 100% affordable, 100% effective.

I think you'll agree that Beauty Kitchen are 100% perfect. I love everything about this company and will definitely be purchasing from them in the future!! I hope you've enjoyed learning all about this all British based company, because I certainly have!! Please visit their website and say hey over on social media!! You'll not regret it!
