5 Fun and Affordable Ways to Relax!

Thursday, 6 October 2016

After a long week of working, slaving over the stove, and ostensibly running around like a chicken with your head cut off – as women tend to do - you may feel like taking some time for yourself is necessary. And you’re right! You’ve earned it. But what’s that? You’re trying to save money? I hear ya, sister. You don’t have to spend all of your hard-earned cash on a trip to the spa --- regardless of how delightful it may be. There are loads of ways you can enjoy some R&R and keep your wallet happy at the same time. Here are 5 affordable ways you can relax and have some fun.
1. Explore Nature
There is nothing more free than stepping outside into the great outdoors. Go outside and get some fresh air. You don’t have to pay money to go outside. A peaceful breeze blowing can give you all of the relaxation you need. And without sounding too hippy-dippy – there are some major benefits for your bod when you spend time outside. Your body needs vitamin D, which you naturally intake from the sun. Vitamin D can actually boost your mood so seriously - get some rays.
You can also go for a hike if you like! Hiking will expose you to the sun and the extra oxygen your body needs to refresh itself. Spending time in the woods will help you center your mind so you can forget about life for a while.

2. Go to the Movie Theater
If you’re feeling like all of your energy has been drained and you literally can’t even, then take the movie route of relaxation. Why not check out yourlocal movie theater and see that chick flick you’ve been dying to watch, or distract yourself with an action-packed movie. Watching a movie can take your mind off of the things that have been bringing you down or stressing you out.
Movie tickets aren’t expensive, and they’re easy to get at the last minute. You don’t have to go to the movies by yourself. Take a friend with you. You can laugh together at a comedy or cry together at a movie that tugs at your heartstrings. Either way, you don’t have to be alone, but you will definitely be relaxed.

3. Listen to Podcasts
There are many ways to distract yourself, and listening to something is one of them. I’m not just talking music, though, and I’m not just talking about at home. Does your morning commute have you down? Why not utilize that time to listen to a podcast or learn a new language? It will help to ease the stress of your daily commute!

4. Have a Picnic
Did you know food is a great way to make you relax? Food can release endorphins that make you feel better, and relieve stress. Pack food that boosts your mood on a picnic, and enjoy your meal in the fresh air. Bring a blanket to sit on and place it under a tree. You won’t spend as much money as you would at a restaurant, but you’ll still feel like you had a great time out of the house.

5. Enjoy a Bubble Bath
The perfect way to end a long, hard day is with a nice, hot bubble bath. Especially with a glass of wine and a goodbook! Let yourself sink into the water while your worries slip away. What’s so affordable about bubble baths is that the best bath products are usable for a lot more than just one bath. Most of the products are bath salts, soaps and oils infused with essential ingredients to smooth your skin and calm your mind at the same time.
If you want to get fancy, treat yourself by lighting candles and carefully placing them around the tub. You’ll feel like you had an aromatherapy spa experience for a relaxing evening without having to leave your house. Bubble baths are a great way to spend a night in.
It’s important to take time and relax every now and then. You don’t have to spend tons of money to do so. Taking a night or two to yourself can benefit your physical and mental health. Next time you want to relax, do it in a fun and affordable way.
