#MeettheBlogger Series Interview 50!

Wednesday, 14 December 2016

I have decided to start a new series here on Sunshine Sarahxo after meeting so many lovely bloggers on Twitter I would like to get to know them. So I am going to try to recruit as many as I can as I think everyone deserves a chance to be in the spotlight. =)

Q1: Hello there, nice to have you here on Sunshine Sarahxo! Please could you introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about your Blog:

Hi Sarah! It's nice to be interviewed. My name is Kanra Khan and I'm currently a second year medical student in Pakistan. I run my blog, which is a bit of a amulgamation of lifestyle, books, reviews, art and studying. I write about how my student life is going, what interesting things I'm studying, how I'm studying, books and movies I've read for leisure, drawings and art I've done (whether general art or anatomical art) and a bit about med school itself- how to study and all of that. So there's no really proper niche to put my blog in, now that I think about it.

Q2: At what point did you decide to make a Blog and share it with the world??

I've been blogging for quite a while actually! My friend introduced me to blogging and the first few blogs I made just died out within months. I used to blog at The Emo Wolverine Writes but then I decided to shift to a new blog a week before my first day at med school. I thought it would be nice- a new blog for a new chapter of my life and so far it's been going good! Although I haven't exactly 'shared' it with the world (my friends and family know I blog but only my dad actually knows what it looks like), I never considered blogging and sharing as mutually exclusive. They both go hand in hand, don't they :)

Q3: How would you describe your writing style? Has it changed over time at all?

My writing style on my blog is basically my thought process. You know how when you're doing some menial task, like say, washing the dishes and you just start talking to yourself? Like “hey remember that book I was reading? I can't wait to get back to it. I'm not even half way through and when I picked it up, I thought it would be really boring but it's actually really great! My favorite character so far is-” and there you go, that is quite honestly my blog post. So it's more colloqial than anything formal or professional although it also depends on the tone you're reading it in! That's one reason why I am thinking about adding audio to my posts so my readers get to actually see inside my head. The style of speech isn't properly conveyed in just words, you see.

Q4: Was there anyone in particular who inspired you? Which Bloggers do you emulate?

As a matter of fact, yes! I have a category of bloggers- there are blogger buddies who motivate you to blog then there are blogger ideals. The people you really respect and you look at their blog and you're like “Wow. I want to be like that”. So yes, I have two main bloggers that I really idealize. First and formost would be Carmen who blogs at as well as Secondly would be Angela who blogs at These two are just amazing bloggers who I especially like because they are both medical students. It really motivates me to see other medical students being passionate about what they love.

Q5: Do you have anything in the pipeline on the Blog which you are particularly excited about?!

Not at the moment! Although I am thinking about starting a little pen-pal thing with my readers. Nothing too fancy to stress them out- I noticed that when bloggers send out snail mail, there's a lot of focus on the letter and packages being aesthetically pleasing and expensive looking and I think that really kills the essence of letter writing- which for me is the writing. This is all still under consideration though, I might not go ahead with this idea at all.

Q6: Does anyone else know about your Blog? What do they think about it??

Like I said before, my close friends and family know that I blog but they aren't exactly what I would call readers. I don't blame them- I certainly don't spam my blog links on my personal accounts the way I do on my blogger account. The thing is, I just wanted to see how much interest and how many views my blog could generate thanks to the content- not because of the person writing it. That and strangers are more likely to look at your blog and tell you what you're doing wrong while friends and family are more likely to let it slide (if they know anything about blogging, that is). My father reads my blog occasionally though and sometimes he gives me new ideas and perspectives for future blog posts. He probably thinks I'm doing great at the moment :D

Q7: Are you obsessed with Lush!?!? If YES what is your favourite product?!

No, not really? I don't think there's a lush outlet in Pakistan! That and when it comes to designing bathrooms, tubs are usually not considered- just showers, so I don't think I'd be buying lush any time soon! (We got the only tub in the house removed like three years ago because no one took a bath and the tub leaked anyway so).

Q8: Has your Blog helped you in other areas of life?!

It definitely has! Sometimes I write about events that I attended and I send the link over for the other attendees to see and that basically helped establish the fact that I can contribute to events/organizations on the digital plane. It gives me confidence when writing and talking about writing and social media. I can also say with experience that blogging also expands my horizons. I learned a lot of things through my entire adventure on blogger, whether it's simple coding, image editing, how to use twitter, or learning about other people and countries!

Q9: What is it that makes you so fabulous?!

I'm just really smart and talented, what can I say. If I started counting all my talents on my fingers, I'd run out of fingers xD Just kidding, I'm over exaggerating my own worth here. I think it's because when I write my blog, I write it for other people. I look at my blog and I think “Would I read this if I wasn't Pakistani, if I wasn't a med student, if I didn't know about it this?”. I like to focus my content on having my readers learn something out of it, or get inspired in some way. After all, something extremely ordinary in my life could be novel and strange for someone else!

Q10: Finally, can you recommened anything to us today!? (Skincare/Beauty/Tv Show/DVD/Music/Food Item...anything!)

Ooh! Well, I highly recommend watching Daredevil! I love that show to bits and the second season came out earlier this year. Actually, I recommend everything that's Marvel. So if you love Daredevil or the Avengers, you should totally come fan girl about it with me. But wait- DC won't be left behind. I loved watching Arrow (the Flash? Not so much, but I might be willing to give it another try if I get an incentive to). Batman v Superman? Not really my interest. So that'll be my recommendation for you guys :D have a wonderful day!

So that concludes our 'Meet the Blogger' for today! Thank You so Much for taking the time to answer these questions today, much appreciated!
