Skincare Loves.....My Skincare Routine And The Products I Love To Use.

Thursday, 27 April 2017

Today I am going to chat to you about Skincare. A subject close to my heart and one I could happily talk about all day long if anybody let me...! I thought it was about time I talked about the products which have been making my face so happy recently!

First up we have the holy grail that is the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish. The product which has probably received more air time than any other cleanser around. I have been using this now for a couple of months and I have to say I absolutely love it! So quick and easy to use, especially in the morning when I'm not quite awake yet...! I love how you don't need to wet your face before hand and simply wash it off with hot water.....very soothing indeed! My face has been loving this and has been left feeling super smooth and cleansed. I have the original and the Rose and Lavender which I tend to use at night in the vain hopes it will send me to sleep!

Something else from Liz Earle which I have been trying lately is their Superskin Serum, it works in perfect harmony with their cleanser and my skin has been loving it. Simply rub it in after washing off the cleanser and tap to ensure it is fully absorbed. I'm sure this has something to do with my skin being clearer than it has in months, although i have only recently started using it but then again it hasn't broken me out either! Win win I say!

If you've read my blog before you will know just how much I love oils, (Body Shop/Kielhl's/Trilogy/Skincare recommendations) and I am always keen to try new ones; especially ones as from one of my favourite brands, Kielh's.

I went to the York Kiehl's store last year and had a consultation where I discovered my skin was dehydrated. I took home some new products including their Hydro Refining Texturising Serum Concentrate, Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate and their famous Midnight Recovery Concentrate. At the time, quite the expensive investment but there are not words to describe just how incredible the skin on my face has been looking since I started using these products on a daily basis. The downright horrible acne which had been setting up camp on my chin has *almost* completely disappeared, like, there are still a few who refuse to move but on the whole for me it is a 100% improvement! These products are a dream to use so it was natural I also purchased their Daily Reviving Concentrate....just so I have each routine covered. You don't need to use much of the oils at all making them worth the initial investment. My Mum has always said that if you look after your skin first, you don't need to spend on make-up so I've always thought it is an area worth spending on.

Another brand which I have been using and loving is The Body Shop. I have loved their products for a very long time, using them throughout my life, when my skin was awfully spotty and oily, when it was getting better but still plagued with horrible acne and now when it is dehydrated. They cover all bases when it comes to skincare and can be trusted to be gentle on skin whilst working hard to treat problems. Their tea-tree range has been a staple in my collection on and off for years as it is a powerful, natural spot treatment which is known for its healing properties. Using the correction fluid and the concentrated treatment together has done wonders for my skin.

I have not used much from the Vitamin E range, purely because my skin has never been the right type for it previously, but since it has been quite dry and dehydrated now feels like the perfect time to be using them to hydrate. I've been using their Moisture Cream, Intense Moisture Serum and their Overnight Serum in Oil (not pictured). I find these products are wonderful for my skin, giving it enough hydration without interfering with my slightly oily t-zone. I use the serum either during the day with the moisturiser or at night with the oil and both work well.

All of these products have been working well for my skin and are helping to keep it *almost* clear of acne. After struggling for what seems my whole life I honestly cannot believe just how incredible my skin is at the moment. I wish I had known about these products before and not wasted so much money on ones which didn't work!

I am so happy with my routines now and the products I am using. They, along with some face masks, have completely changed my skin like nothing else. These are the products I would save in a fire and would happily re-purchase time after time. It has taken many, many years to get here, believe me I have had some horrific breakouts in my time; especially when I was in Australia camping out without a consistent skincare routine. I look at pictures now and although I remember having the time of my life, I can't help but critique myself simply because of my acne. I can completely understand how it can make some young girls (and boys) depressed and almost suicidal. You may say that looks are superficial and there's more to life than how you look but when you're young it is literally the only thing that matters to you. I think more needs to be done to help these kids/teenagers./young people deal with issues like this because I can relate to them and understand their pain. Looks are everything when you're that age and when you're constantly being belittled/bullied because of them, you will do anything to 'look normal' and 'like everyone else with clear skin'.

So with that in mind, here's a picture of me with god damn awful skin but having the time of my life and learning that there's more to life than bad acne!

I hope this has helped some of you. Please do let me know if there's anything you've tried to win the war against bad acne! I do hope you are learning to love yourselves just the way you are though, because each and every one of you are beautiful, just as you are.

Love, Sarah
