Guest Post By Jennifer Bohnet Author of The Little Kiosk By The Sea - ANIMALS IN MY LIFE - and in my books!

Sunday, 18 June 2017

Over the years we’ve had lots of animals in our lives: cats (lots and lots of cats!) dogs (eight so far), horses, and when we had a smallholding in Wales, pigs, turkeys, chickens, goats and cows.

These days we have two cats, Missy and Little‘Un, both looking very bedraggled in the above photo.

Little’un was a stray who adopted us when we lived down south, these days his name is a bit of a misnomer, Big Boy would be better. Missy was given to us by Jean our French neighbour three years ago. A grown-up version of Missy makes an appearance as Sabine’s cat in The Little Kiosk By The Sea.

Viking our border collie came from another French neighbour who simply had too many dogs. Viking lived with three other dogs in a kennel on the farm and I don’t think he could believe his luck when he came to us! Carpets on the floor and a settee to curl up on and a new BFF.

The collie in one our my earlier books A French Pirouette was based on Meg our dog when we were farming, while in Rosie’s Little Cafe on The Riviera, Rosie takes on a stray collie she finds on the beach. D’you get the feeling we really love collie dogs?!

We also have a few chickens. one duck and one guinea fowl at the moment and this noisy fellow who wakes us up every morning. So far he hasn’t found his way into a book yet but he may well do in the future.

Thanks Jennifer for your tales about your pets, I really enjoyed reading it! I love how your animals have influenced your writing! Find out more about The Little Kiosk By The Sea below:
