Hello and welcome back to the last instalment in this week long series of posts for National Chocolate Week, I hope you have enjoyed reading them! Have I tempted you to try anything? Today I am delighted to bring you a giveaway in collaboration with Thermapen, - probably the fastest, most sensitive and accurate thermometer you will have ever used! 


With a patented, automatic 360 degree rotational display, readable display in either left or right hand, auto intelligent back light, waterproof and an improved battery life of 3000 hours. 

The casing is washable and includes a 'Biomaster' additive that reduces bacterial growth and the ergonomic rubber seal minimises the risk of the ingress of water, dust or food. 

The Thermapen 4 is powered by a single AAA battery with a life expectancy of 3000 hours in normal use, without the backlight. Both low battery (icon) and open circuit indication are displayed, when applicable. 
No longer will you wonder if that chocolate cake is cooked inside, simply gently open the probe away from the Thermapen housing and insert the probe into the cake, the Thermapen will quickly calibrate itself and give you readings and displaying the temperature in as little as 3 seconds. It does not start at zero though, rather displaying the current temperature as soon as it is opened. It does not stop the cooking for you either, as amazing as it is it only displays the temperature of the food you are testing, it is up to you to decide if that means the food is done. 

The display will keep changing every thirty seconds as the temperature at the tip of the probe is always changing, this is because when you first penetrate the meat on the grill for instance, the Thermapen display will change very rapidly as it moves from the ambient temperature to the temperature of the meat being probed. After 3 seconds this becomes much slower giving you an accurate reading but it doesn't stop completely. It detects variations in temperature as it is moved around while the meat continues to cook. This way you can be certain that it is cooked all the way through, avoiding cutting into a raw steak or serving pink chicken! (or underdone cakes!) 
Here is a list of what it DOES do: Checks the internal temperature of meats, poultry, fish/shellfish, vegetables, casseroles, desserts, confectionery, breads, doughs, sauces, drinks and oh so much more! Imagine the fun you could have!
