National Chocolate Week | Making My Favourite Chocolate Cupcakes With Aduna Cacao Powder and Guittard Chocolate.

Thursday, 12 October 2017

Hey there!! Thanks for coming back to Day 4 of National Chocolate Week I hope you have enjoyed the posts I've had up so far, it certainly has been fun for me! Today I'm talking about Aduna Super Cacao Powder......keep reading to find out more!

Aduna Super-Cacao Powder really is something to behold! Full of flavanols which apparently are good for our hearts?! Who knew?! Certainly not me! A chocolate cake wouldn't be a chocolate cake without the addition of cocoa powder so you may as well make a good choice and use one which is proven to work with the vessels of your heart and actually improve its health!

Flavanols are a plant based antioxidant that help to maintain the elasticity of blood vessels, contributing to normal blood flow and supporting cardiovascular health, elasticity of arteries and blood circulation. This cocoa powder is high in fibre, protein, magnesium and potassium.

By buying from Aduna you also help to support small producers in Africa, it is 100% natural, is free from dairy, wheat, gluten and added sugar, has no preservatives or additives and is suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

So really, is there any other choice when it comes to choosing which cocoa powder you're going to use in baking? I think not! I decided to use it when I made my Chocolate Chip Cupcakes and let me tell you it is delicious! It has really made them taste so chocolatey. Plus I think the addition of some of the Guittard Chocolate baking chips helped too! May as well up the chocolatey-ness after all this is National Chocolate Week!

The Aduna brand mission is to breathe the vibrancy of Africa into the daily lives of people all over the world, creating a virtuous circle of positive impact. Aduna sources its ingredients directly from small scale producers. 700 women in Upper East Ghana receive sustainable income flows through Aduna's Baobab supply chain which enables them to provide basic needs for their families. Each product has their own uniquely designed print which tells the story of Aduna's hero ingredients in a way which celebrates the fusion of Africa and London inspired design.

So not only does the actual product do you good but at the same time you're doing good by buying it and supporting all these amazing women in Africa. Amazing! Does baking ever get better than this?! I think not!

These cupcakes were very easy to make, I mainly followed my usual Victoria Sponge recipe which is very simple. All you need to remember is 6,6,6.....(devils numbers I know!) But it equates to 6oz of self-raising flour, 6oz of caster sugar and 6oz of butter/margarine. (Equal to 175g of each ingredient). Not forgetting 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1 teapsoon of baking powder and 3 large eggs! Not forgetting the Aduna Cocoa Powder of course! I just added in two tablespoons and it worked a treat!

I also added in some of the Guittard Semi-Sweet Chocolate Baking Chips just because! I have to say the result is one of chocolatey heaven, I think the combination of the cocoa powder and chocolate chips make it so.

The awesome 'Life Is What You Bake It' apron is from Squiffy Print and I absolutely love it!

To make these chocolate cupcakes vegetarian/vegan friendly all you would need do is change up the margarine for a dairy free version and then substitute the egg, pretty easy these days considering the amount of 'free-from' versions there are around these days. You could also either substitute the chocolate chips or just leave them out, up to you really!

Since giving up meat myself and trying to go dairy free I have found a plethora of available products to help in my transition. The best news is that I don't have to give up chocolate or cake! Winning!

Have I tempted you in with these delicious chocolate cupcakes? They really are so so devilishly divine that it would almost be rude not to at least try and make them yourself...!

Let me know how you get on, don't forget to tweet me your pics @sunshinesarahxo over on Twitter! I would absolutely LOVE to see them all!

Love, Sarah

*Big thanks to Aduna for sending over this fabulous cocoa powder! I have loved using it as you can probably tell! All opinions are my own.
