Dating the It Guy by Krysten Lindsay Hager
Emme is a sophomore in high school who starts dating, Brendon Agretti, the popular senior who happens to be a senator's son and well-known for his good looks. Emme feels out of her comfort zone in Brendon's world and it doesn't help that his picture perfect ex, Lauren seems determined to get back into his life along with every other girl who wants to be the future Mrs. Agretti. Emme is already conflicted due to the fact her last boyfriend cheated on her and her whole world is off kilter with her family issues. Life suddenly seems easier keeping Brendon away and relying on her crystals and horoscopes to guide her. Emme soon starts to realize she needs to focus less on the stars and more on her senses. Can Emme get over her insecurities and make her relationship work? Life sure is complicated when you're dating the it guy.
My Review:

At first glance I thought this wasn't going to be my kind of book because it all seemed to be about a girl who uses the stars and crystals to guide her life - so not my style! But because I don't judge a book by its cover I opened it up and started reading.....and I was sure glad i did because I absolutely loved this book, plus it seemed to come at just the right time because whilst reading it Emme was going through some tough times with her Grandparents which was very similar to what I was going through as well. It was good to read about someone else's problems for a while and escape into another world. I liked how this book was centered around the hot guy dates someone who isn't the hottest girl in school; it lent itself well to showing what can happen when two people from opposite worlds come together. It can be so boring reading about how the jock always gets the cheerleader and to be honest I don't really want to read those books or watch those films anymore, I want something real and which I can relate to.

I really loved how this book was written, the length of it and the overall theming. Sometimes you have to look beyond the obvious to really get behind a story. I would highly recommened this book to everyone because at the end of the day it's just a beautiful love story with a theme of strong families entwined throughout. It is very cleverly done but also a bit predictable as you know that Emme and Brendan will get together in the end, but it's how they do and what happens to them both as characters developing in the story which just makes it for me. An easy read and certainly one for everyone 4/5!
