A Mother's Sacrifice by Gemma Metcalfe | Neverland Blog Tours | Review and Giveaway!

Monday, 2 April 2018

God ensured she crossed my path. And that is why I chose her.

The day Louisa and James bring their newborn son home from the hospital marks
a new beginning for all of them.

To hold their child in their arms, makes all the stress and trauma of fertility treatment worth it.
Little Cory is theirs and theirs alone. Or so they think…

After her mother’s suicide when she was a child, Louisa’s life took an even darker turn.
But meeting James changed everything.
She can trust him to protect her, and to never leave her.
Even if deep down, she worries that she has never told him the full truth
about her past, or the truth about their baby.

But someone knows all her secrets – and that person is watching and waiting,
with a twisted game that will try to take everything Louisa holds dear.

My Review:

As soon as I started reading this book I was hooked! I was drawn into Louisa's world of delusion and distress as she tried to settle into life as a new mum. Gemma's way with words kept me gripped until the very last page, I just had to know what the secret was which was tormenting Louisa and James so much. It seemed at first as though she was just going mad as no-one would believe her rants and believed her to be absolutely crazy. Everything in her life stopped as she tried to figure out who was behind the mystery cards left to her by her stalker. She starts to doubt everyone around her including her husband and her friends; believing James to be having an affair with one of her friends her delusions get worse and worse until James suggests she stay at a mental facility. It is at this point Louisa begins to wonder just what drugs she has been taking and if they are the reason for her delusions and psychological breakdown.

If you're a fan of psychological thrillers then I would highly recommend Gemma's latest book to you. Full of twists and turns it is guaranteed to have you on the edge of your seat eager to turn the page. The ending was not one I really saw coming but I was happy with it and wasn't left with that 'oh, right...ookkkaayyy' feeling you sometimes get when an author does something predictable or safe. Some endings can leave you feeling unsatisfied as a reader but let me assure you that the ending to A Mother's Sacrifice is everything you want and leaves you begging for more. I haven't read her first one 'Trust Me' but I am more eager than ever now to add it my ever growing TBR pile!

Thanks Gemma!
