Bottomless Brunch* At Revolucion De Cuba Harrogate | Sampling The Latest Craze In The Food World | Mexican Food At Its Finest.

Brunch, it's almost an instantiation, like afternoon tea. De rigour for the morning after the night before. Most places now offer brunch during the quieter weekend shifts, called Bottomless Brunch there's usually a set menu of 5-6 dishes completed with an unlimited amount of Prosecco for a set price.

It's a good way for restaurants to get people in during what could be a quiet time for them, there's always the hope that once they're in, money will be spent on other food and drinks. But that's the only reason that brunch is so popular, it's a good way of sampling a few different dishes which you perhaps wouldn't get around to eating during the week.

Plus, when there's unlimited Prosecco on offer (or a choice of other drinks) what better way to catch up with friends?

I went down to Revolucion De Cuba last week and met up with one of my friends from work for a catch up and a gossip as we hadn't seen each other due to her starting university. It was really lovely having that time together uninterrupted to really catch up and hear all about her new life at university.

Once we arrived we were seated, given menus, water and nachos to snack on whilst we perused and made up our minds about which dishes we wanted. Sam our waiter was brilliant at giving recommendations and in fact my friend went ahead with his choice of a Breakfast Burrito and I had already chosen Huevos Rancheros as apart from the Avocado Brunch it was the only other vegetarian dish on the menu and even then I had to ask for it without the mushroom and egg!

It would be good for them to get a vegan dish or two on this menu too as we all know that this is becoming more and more prevalent. Plus it would be interesting to see what they could come up with!

What we had:

Huevos Rancheros

A flour tortilla topped with spiced black beans, tomatoes, and mushroom. Finished with a fried egg and a hit of our spicy rum sauce, served with crispy patatas.

Breakfast Burrito

A flour tortilla stuffed with sausage, chorizo, egg, refried beans, jalapeƱos and cheese. Topped off with some crispy bacon.

Pineapple Cake

Light vanilla sponge with juicy caramelised pineapple topping, coconut buttercream and pumpkin seed crumb. Served with coconut ice cream.

Chocolate Brownie

Chocolate brownie drizzled with rum caramel sauce. Served with vanilla pod ice cream, fresh strawberries and a sprinkle of basil sugar.

I feel I must say here that for the rest of the day both myself and my friend were SO FULL! Like, couldn't move off the sofa to go to work kind of full, the kind where you look at food and it just makes you feel sick!! I had never really experienced fullness like it really! So be warned: don't eat anything beforehand and be prepared to make your home on the sofa or in bed for the rest of the day!

I have to hand it to the team at Harrogate Revolucion De Cuba they were all extremely friendly, nothing was too much trouble and Sam our waiter was particularly brilliant. His recommendations for food were spot on and absolutely delicious so thank you very much Sam!

It was really delightful having the opportunity to sample this bottomless brunch, my friend and I had a rather wonderful time and I will definitely be back!!

I was given a goody bag which included a glass, a small taster bottle of rum, a sample of rum, a bottle of coke, a hawaiian lei, a maraca as well as some lunch & drinks vouchers so it's safe to say I'll definitely be heading down there sometime soon!

Thanks again to everyone at Revolucion De Cuba, Harrogate!

Love, Sarah
