Valentine's Day is coming up!
Whether you're in a relationship or not, you might be spending Valentine's Day alone- and that's okay.
Just because you spend Valentine's Day by yourself, it doesn't mean you're lonely. Society tries to tell us that if we don't have a romantic partner or a huge friendship group, we are somehow failing at life.
However, this couldn't be further from the truth!

Spending time on your own is super important, allowing you to rest, re-charge and understand yourself. There's nothing better than being able to enjoy your own company whenever you want.
I recently wrote a post about solo dating, including 5 solo date ideas to enjoy a special Valentine's Day with yourself.
In this blog post, I want to expand on these ideas. I want to discuss a few ways to have a perfect Valentine's Day by yourself, to help you make the most of this special occasion.
Plan your day
First things first, it's a great idea to plan your day, so that you know what to expect. If you've got the day off work, think about where you want to go or what you want to do.

This means you have a chance to book your restaurant table or cinema tickets for the big day, and it gives you something to look forward to throughout February.
Planning your day a little is the perfect way to make the most of your Valentine's celebrations this year!
Invest in self-care
This Valentine's Day, take some time to invest in self-care. If you're not sure how to make the most of your day alone, self-care is always a great answer.

Self-care means different things to different people. You could:
Enjoy a long bath
Take the day off work
Use a bullet journal to do a bit of journaling
Don't put pressure on yourself
Whether you're in a relationship or not, it's easy to put pressure on this romantic holiday- especially with all the adverts, products and gift ideas that are pushed on us throughout the month.
This Valentine's Day, don't put pressure on yourself!

Think about how you want to spend your day, but remember that it's just one day- and if you want to spend it on the sofa watching TV, there's nothing wrong with that.
You don't even need to acknowledge Valentine's Day this year if you don't want to.
Think about self-love
When life starts to get busy, it gets harder to make an effort to love yourself. Spend Valentine's Day thinking about how you can be kind to yourself.
You are your own worst critic, so this is a great chance to silence your inner critic, boost your self-esteem and think about how you can promote self-love.

From doing a bit of exercise to writing a list of what you love about yourself, make a concerted effort to love yourself if you're spending the day by yourself this year.
Focus on YOU
In life, it's very easy to go along with what other people want to do, such as where you eat or what you watch on TV.
Spending Valentine's Day by yourself is the perfect chance to focus on YOU.

Do you want to spend the evening inside eating chocolate? Do it! Do you want to go out for a meal? Do it! Do you want to switch off your phone for the evening and just be with yourself? Do it!
Enjoy the perfect Valentine's Day by focusing on exactly what you want to do with your day.
How are you celebrating Valentine's Day this year? Do you have any tips for spending Valentine's Day by yourself? Let me know!
Love, Sarah xoxo
