AD Easy, Eco-Friendly Swaps With Ohelo.

AD - Post contains items gifted in exchange for a feature on my blog. All opinions my own.

Recently I have been using a new reusable water bottle and tumbler from a small, family run business called Ohelo. After travelling around and watching Blue Planet 2, Alex and Katy were determined to produce something which wouldn't have any impact on the planet. They wanted to create something which was uniquely designed, products that would be durable, long lasting, beautiful and prevent more plastic from coming to being.

Another great aspect of Ohelo is that they donate 5% of profits to charitable organisations which is just another way they endeavour to give back.

So, what's in a name? Well, the ‘Ōhelo berry is endemic to Hawaii and a favourite snack of the endangered Nene goose. Remember that for your next Zoom quiz!

Introducing The Insulated Stainless Steel Water Bottle

This 500ml bottle is pretty and practical, the high grade vacuum insulation keeps drinks hot for 12 hours and cold for 24. Designed for modern life it can be used with standard ice cubes and fits most cup-holders. The super soft strap makes Ohelo a joy to carry, is made safer with lead free solder and is BPA, BPS and BPF free.

The classic double-walled vacuum insulated bottle is the perfect companion to help you stay happy and hydrated, no matter what your day has in-store for you. The unique British design will help you stand out from the crowd.

I was sent both the water bottle and tumbler in the Honeycomb design and I absolutely love them. The colour is very vibrant and the laser cut honeycomb design really stands out. The carry handle is a soft rubber and easy to carry long distances.

The bottle itself feels good on the hands and the actual top of the bottle makes drinking from it very easy. When full it doesn't feel too heavy to carry around, nor does the carry strap strain from being held which is great whilst carrying it around during our allowed exercise whilst in lockdown! I also tested it's cooling abilities by filling it with cold water from the tap and leaving it in the sunshine alongside another water bottle I have from TKMaxx. Needless to say, the Ohelo one won that day, because after 6.5hours in the sun the water was still ICE COLD! I *almost* couldn't believe it! This is due to the bottle being double walled - it prevents the sunshine/heat from penetrating the liquid inside, thus keeping the water cold when left in direct sunlight. The Yellow Bee retails for £30 and comes with a carrying strap.

Meet The Stainless Steel Tumbler!

They are 100% leak-proof, allowing you to drink from any angle with their stylish 400ml coffee cups. Go from sip mode to leak-proof with a simple twist and the high grade vacuum insulation makes them great for hot AND cold drinks. The versatile mesh attachment can be used as a tea strainer, protein shaker or fruit infuser. Made with safer with lead free solder and is also BPA, BPS & BPF free.

I first tried out my tumbler by filling it with G&T which was just glorious I'll have you know! Don't let its intended purposes of travel coffee mug fool you, this 400ml tumbler can be filled with a myriad of drinks should the mood take you!

The tumbler itself is light to hold and the laser cut honeycomb design really stands out. The lid is easy to take on/off, as is the leaf on the top which you use to switch it from open/closed, which in itself is easy to turn.

I have since used it for coffee when I was meeting a friend for a dog walk after going to the post office and I felt very confident in closing it up and chucking it in my bag before I left.

Knowing that it would still be hot when I would be meeting my friend gave me the confidence to get on with my errand without having to worry about being faced with lukewarm coffee when the time came! (As well as having an actual lid which closed properly as all my other reusable coffee cups don't!)

The one thing to note here is that there is one part of the tumbler which does get hot and shouldn't be touched if at all possible if you have tea/coffee/hot chocolate inside it. (On the Honeycomb Bee design one which I have, this is the silver ring around the top, just underneath the black lid)

As an avid tea drinker I appreciate the silver mesh attachment meaning I can put a teabag in and go if I need to - although I don't really like strong tea so I'm not sure if I'll ever do this but it's good to know that it's there if I did.

I can imagine in this sunny weather we're having at the moment, filling it up with an iced drink and sitting outside to read my book. All the while knowing my drink will still be cold whenever I need to take a sip, perhaps I could even put wine in it??

I adore my tumbler so much and it will definitely be coming with me on many more dog walks with my friend as we do like to have a coffee and a chat afterwards! I'm even thinking about getting one for her so we can save money on our coffee dates!

The Yellow Bee Tumbler retails for £30.

My Overall Review Of Ohelo

I absolutely love everything about this brand, they are a family run, eco friendly, vegan start up company who are committed to changing the way reusable products are made and give back to charitable organisations.

After testing out both the water bottle and tumbler, I can highly recommend them both for all your refreshment needs. If you're the adventurous type who likes to get out and about for hours at a time then you'll love the Insulated Water Bottle for keeping your water/energy drink cold.

Alternatively, if you're a fan of coffee dates you'll love the tumbler for taking out and about with you whilst doing errands or meeting up with a friend for a doggie date! It's leak-proof design and easy twist opening will make for easy drinking and peace of mind when you need to quickly pop it back into your bag.

Either way, check out the full range on the website and get some Ohelo in your life!
