Glow Tonic, Sheet Masks, Glow Serum & Eye Patches | Discovering Pixi For The First Time
Until quite recently I hadn't used much Pixi beauty products, only the infamous Pixi Glow Tonic after seeing it being reviewed and raved everywhere. I realised I could actually buy it from M&S and so merrily went along on payday and purchased a bottle of it! It felt happy that I'd be happy to try it out for myself after hearing so many good things about it!
I have now finished that bottle and although I haven't repurchased it yet, I have started using more and more Pixi products in my everyday beauty regime.
Before using them, I didn't know if they would be any good for my particular skin type, or help me out with my acne scarring which had been bothering me for several years.
If you've read any of my other beauty posts, then you'll know the history I've had with my skin. I wrote a letter to Kiehls in 2017 after I got the right products for my new skin type and they literally saved my skin. It's no word of a lie to say I got quite emotional because of the problems I've had previously.
After getting my skin sorted and using the right products, I finally felt I could start experimenting as my skin seemed settled and I was no longer suffering with acne as badly as I had - although I did still suffer from the dreaded hormonal breakouts which I didn't seem to be able to shift!
Pixi Beauty Sheet Masks - Glycolic Boost
After seeing lifestyle blogger xAmeliax talk about the Pixi Sheet Masks - in particular the Glycolic Boost sheet masks - I knew I had to try them out for myself. Luckily they were on 3 for 2 on look fantastic so I managed to get 3 boxes (each with 3 sheet masks in) for only £20!
I was super excited to receive them and try the first one out for myself. What struck me the most when I first used them was how well they fit my face, like it was neither too big nor too small and the eye/nose/mouth holes all fitted perfectly and I could relax knowing that I wouldn't be spending ages fiddling around with it.
I definitely recommend them if you're looking for a well fitting sheet mask which actually does what it says on the packet!
My skin reacted so well to these face masks that I was quite shocked! I really don't expect skincare to work for me anymore, maybe that's because I'm of a certain age and that at some point beauty products just don't work anymore - I could just be cynical here thinking that products just can't penetrate far enough down to actually do anything!
This is even more true with a sheet mask - something which just sits on the surface of your skin and which therefore can't penetrate down to the deeper levels because it just sits on the surface.
But I have to say I was surprised when after that first use, my skin not only felt a lot smoother and softer but also looked brighter too. The acne scarring on my chin was also lessened, I couldn't really believe it - is it possible for a simple sheet mask to actually have this much of an impact on my skin?! It appeared so!
How They Work
A serum concentrate of glycolic acid brightens and herbal extracts help to improve and maintain skin health, promoting more luminous skin and encourage cell turnover to reveal brighter skin underneath.
The best time to use a sheet mask is after cleansing, before moisturiser on bare skin.
1. After cleansing, place sheet mask onto face and pat into contours to fit snuggly.
2. Leave on for 10-15 minutes
3. Remove mask and pat in excess serum to face, neck and decollentage.
Best stored in the fridge for a refreshing and de-puffing effect. This micro-fibre sheet mask is biodegradable also.
Like I said before, these have to be the best sheet masks I have ever used. Pixi have come up trumps with this latest innovation - designing something which will capture everyone's attention and which they will be familiar with, without compromising on the very best of Pixi's ingredients.
I have used nearly all of the 9 masks I purchased as I love them so much and my skin has too. After each use my skin looks instantly noticeably brighter and my acne scarring has cleared up to almost nothing.
I love relaxing in the bath with one of these on, knowing that it's doing my skin the world of good. If you're after a good quality sheet mask which will actually do something for your skin, then I can highly recommend these Pixi Glycolic sheet masks!
Pixi Beauty Overnight Glow Serum
I've had this little beauty in my stash for a while, again after I was influenced to buy it by another blogger! But I'm glad I did because this little bottle of concentrated exfoliating gel has done absolute wonders for my skin.
Especially when used in combination with the sheet masks has really helped to clear up my skin, in a way I didn't think was possible before.
I guess I underestimated the power of this wonder gel and kind of forgot about it in my stash until I was again reminded of just how good it can be! I'm not really sure how it works but it just does!
After sorting out my dehydrated skin, the only real thing that was left to do was get my acne and scarring under control and thanks to Pixi I have managed that.
I now get compliments on my skin which I never thought I would I'd ever receive. To be told I have great skin is like the cherry on top of a very delicious and very tasty, vegan cake!
I use this Glow Serum at night, underneath my moisturiser and let it do its magic overnight, just like the name suggests.
How It Works
A concentrated exfoliating gel that helps to reveal a more even and radiant skintone overnight. Exfoliate and soothe skin with this miracle serum that works while you sleep to reveal a brighter complexion.
Formulated with 10% glycolic acid and arginine, it helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and fade sun spots over time.
Enriched with cucumber and aloe vera extracts to calm skin and Vitamins A, C & E to nourish.
Use PM and massage 203 drops onto cleansed, toned skin before moisturiser.
Pixi recommeneds using SPF in the daytime, especially when using a product with glycolic acid in it.
10% Glycolic acid, smoothes texture of your skin, Vitamin A is a potent antioxidant and Cucumber calms and soothes.
I think by now you're understanding that I'm loving Pixi Beauty products a bit at the moment. What I didn't expect was just how well they were all going to work, sometimes I think that skincare like this works best together - using products from the same line so they can work in harmony and produce better results.
This little wonder gel has completely transformed my whole chin area where my acne was the worst. I had hardly any active acne, just a load of scarring which I wasn't best pleased with to be honest!
I honestly didn't think I would ever be able to get rid of it but I was happy to concede to it if it meant that on the whole my skin was clearer with less active acne.
To be able to look in the mirror and not see that anymore is just wonderful. No wonder it's called a glow serum because that's exactly what it has done to my skin - completely brightened it up and also made it smoother.
Like my complexion has completely changed for the better and it has made me a complete convert to Pixi Beauty!
I will definitely be checking out more of their skincare range from now on!
Pixi Beauty FortifEYE Eye Patches
These were a recent purchase and I have only used them a couple of times but just like everything else I've tried, they had an instant depuffing effect on my eyes and will continue to be a staple in my beauty regime from now on.
Again, xAmeliax influenced me to buy these ones after she talked about how good the DetoxifEYE ones were. To be honest I didn't realise which ones I had bought until I was talking to Amelia about them - turns out I've obviously purchased the other ones, but I'm sure they'll have the same effect. I can just try the DetoxifEYE ones next!
They come in a tub with 30 pairs and a spatula to help you get them out of the tub. I did find them quite fiddly to begin with and it took me a little while to apply them onto my eye right, but I got there in the end!
How They Work
Contains botanical collagen to help fortify and smooth skin, peptides firm while caffeine energies the under eye area. Hydrogel patches infuse the delicate eye area with hydration.
Use enclosed spatula to gently lift and separate each patch, apply onto clean, dry, under-eye area with the thickest part at the outer corner. Repeat on the other side and leave on for 10 minutes. Gently pat remaining serum into skin, do not wash off. Use daily or as often as needed. Use chilled for extra depuffing effect.
An extra tip I picked up the other day about these eye patches is that once you've used them underneath your eye, you can actually flip them over so you're adding hydration to your eyelids as well. A bonus for your eyes as well as reusing the eye patch!
Having only used these a couple of times I can't really comment on their performance over time, but what I can tell you is how much of an instant effect they had on my eyebags. I always like to joke that I have two designer bags, Gucci and Prada, only they're under my eyes and not in my wardrobe! LOL!
I've always suffered with puffy under eye bags, I'm not quite sure how to get rid of them or how they appear in the first place, i just know I am always on the hunt for something to help me deal with them!
They're quite discoloured also - another thing I am on the hunt to cure but alas I doubt I'll ever be able to! But I do find that these help to lessen it for a little while at least and if I've been good at keeping hydrated and sleeping well then when I use these, the reddening is lessened at least.
I love using these at anytime of the day, they instantly feel cooling and help me to relax all ready for a pamper afternoon or evening. You do look a bit funny I'll admit but hey no-one's going to see you are they?!
I do recommend these ones, but like I say, I haven't tried them for long enough yet but from the instant results I've had I have high hopes that they'll do wonders for me in the long run.
My Final Thoughts
Overall I have loved using these Pixi beauty products and more importantly, so has my skin! Not since I went to Kiehls and realised just how dehydrated my skin was, have I had such an obvious and drastic change to the way it looks.
Sometimes you don't know where to start with skincare as there are just so many products and brands out there that it's quite overwhelming! I am so pleased I found Pixi Beauty and started to use their products. My skin will be forever thankful!
I wanted to write this review in the hope that it helps someone else who may be struggling with their skin. I'm sure you're fully aware of Pixi Beauty and how good they are by now but every review helps, yes?
Let me know if you've tried anything from Pixi Beauty, what is your favourite product? I could always do with more recommendations!
