As you probably know by now, I love running! I find it helpful for my mental and physical health- and I've loved trying out new challenges in the past couple of months.
This year, I am taking part in 2 half-marathons- and it has definitely been a challenge balancing my training for both of these races.
In this post, I want to discuss a few unique running challenges to try out this year. There are so many incredible running events to try out at all times of the year- and many runners also get chance to raise money for charity while they run.
Find your next unique running challenge, and let me know all of your tips to train for any big challenges!
1. Whole Earth Man V Horse Marathon
Whole Earth Man V Horse Marathon is a fantastic 22-mile running challenge. Taking place in Llanwrtyd Wells, on 11 June, this race gives runners the chance to compete against riders on horseback.
This is a unique running challenge that combines my love of running with my absolute love of animals!
Try out this annual race, and see if you will be victorious. The competition started back in 1980, but it wasn't until 2004 that a man beat a horse!

2. Race for Life
Race for Life is a great challenge, and Cancer Research hold these races across the year (and across the UK) for enthusiastic participants.
The atmosphere at these races is electric, and many cancer survivors and loving family members run in this race to show their support for this important charity.

As well as normal running challenges, Race for Life also involves different types of races, such as mud races and special events for children.
This is a unique chance to try out your skills and raise some money for an important cause.
3. Off-Road Races
The UK offers a range of off-road races. Trailscape provides races that are between 10K and marathon-length. These races give runners the chance to check out some of the UK's most beautiful terrain and also try out their running skills.
If you want to try out a running challenge that offers more than a simple track, choose one of these off-road races as your unique challenge.

If you're thinking of trying out one of these exciting and unique running challenges- don't forget that a different kind of training is needed for these races.
You need to research the kind of terrain you'll be running on, and from mud to off-road tracks it is important to plan ahead.
It is also important to understand the kind of supplies you should have with you, such as any food or first aid kits.
Have you tried one of these unique running challenges? Do you enjoy trying to find new challenges, to push yourself and your training?
Let me know in the comments!
