4 Ways to Feel Confident in Your Skin

I have always struggled with my skin, and when you don't feel confident in your skin it can impact your whole day. I have been on a real journey with my skin, and I'm finally at a point where I have the skin I wish I had when I was younger!

Take it from me, a day when you don't feel good in your skin can instantly affect your mood and mental health. However, there are a few ways to feel confident in your skin, and make sure you spend every day feeling your best.

This Self-Care Sunday, I've come up with 4 ways to feel confident in your skin. There's no quick fix to feel better about your body, but there are so many little things you can do to improve your confidence and realise that your skin is beautiful just the way it is!

1. Surround yourself with positivity

Unfortunately, society is always ready to tell us that we are inadequate. Our bodies are never quite right, our skin is never smooth enough and we need as many beauty products as possible to make ourselves presentable. But none of these things are true!

Surround yourself with positive messages about your skin and body. Follow skin positive accounts online and choose magazines or publications that show images of people that look like you.

2. Change your mentality

If you struggle with something like acne, you might feel the need to improve your skin as much as possible with your skincare routine or diet. But you need to try and change your mentality about your skin.

Instead of saying to yourself "I need to improve my skin" try saying "I want my skin to be as healthy as possible".

Aim for healthy skin that feels good for you, instead of trying to achieve "perfect skin"- which doesn't exist anyway!

3. Do what you want- don't let your skin get in the way!

A lot of people let their skin get in the way of having a good time, and I've definitely been guilty of this in the past.

You might not want to meet up with your friends if you're having a big breakout, or you might feel the need to plaster on lots of make-up.

There's nothing wrong with staying in or putting on some make-up- but don't let your skin stop you from enjoying yourself.

Go out with your friends, dance all night, go on a date and definitely eat that doughnut!

4. Choose the right products for you

If you struggle with your skin, choose the right products for you, and make sure you stick with products that always make you feel confident and happy in your own skin.

Skin+Me is a fantastic prescription based skincare brand that have given me skin free from acne scarring skin that is glowing more and more each day. My skin is clear and I feel more confidence to be myself everyday, even when I'm feeling a bit meh about my appearance.

I also found Kiehl's skincare products so helpful, and I really recommend finding a product that feels good on your skin and makes you feel like the most confident version of yourself every day.

I also longer breakout during my period like I used to do, and I've definitely found the right balance of products for me- and you can too!

If you're feeling unconfident in your skin, try one of these steps to help you feel better- and always remember that no one has perfect skin!

There are a few things you can do to feel confident in your skin every single day, and it's so important to look after yourself first and foremost when you are trying to improve your self-image.

It's okay to feel down and have days when you're not feeling as confident as you want- but remember that everyone struggles with their own insecurities, and you'll get past this feeling. Things will get better, I promise.
