It's important to understand how to properly simplify your daily routine.
Many of us may enjoy a fast-paced and busy lifestyle- and that's fine- but there's nothing wrong with slowing down a little bit and even adding a bit of simplicity to your routine everyday. Simple living is an example of this, and it's a great way to take a pause and it helps many people's mental health.
In this post, I'm discussing 5 ways to simplify your daily routine. This includes ways to be a little more productive on a daily basis and turning the focus onto things that improve your mental health.
1. Plan your meals in advance
If you want to simplify your daily routine, planning your meals is one of the best ways to reduce down what you have to do during your day- and it can really simplify your daily routine. How long do you spend thinking about what you're going to eat? Or how long do you spend wandering around the shops, wondering what to buy?
Cut down on this time and plan your meals for the week in advance. This will improve your productivity and simplify your routine every single day.
2. Focus on the essentials
One of the best ways to simplify your daily routine is to reduce the amount of things you need to get done day by day. If you usually rush around from task to task, try to take some time to just complete essential tasks, or even give yourself the day to relax and reset.
Taking some time to slow down your hectic routine can sometimes help reset your mindset and rest your body and mind. Focusing on just the essentials that need to be completed is the best way to do this.
3. Make a to-do list for yourself
A to-do list is such an under-rated but powerful way to simplify your daily routine and make sure that your head is in the right place when you come to do work or household tasks.
Sometimes just having a list of what you need to get done in the day is the perfect way to focus on the important things and simplify your daily routine.
4. Decide your outfit the day before
This is a game-changer, especially if you have to wake up early for work! I don't know about you, but my decision making skills aren't fantastic first thing in the morning. Reduce your morning stress, simplify your day and lay out an outfit the evening before.
That way, you have one less thing to think about in the morning. It takes 5 minutes to choose an outfit before bedtime, and you'll start the next day feeling happy, organised and stress-free.
5. Be mindful about what you're doing
When life gets too hectic or busy, we often try to get tasks done as soon as possible and instantly move onto the next one. However, practice spending time on tasks and completing them mindfully.
For example, take time to clean your kitchen at the end of the day or go for a walk and really focus on what you're doing. It's so easy to do one thing but be thinking about another, so take some time to practice mindfulness and simplify your routine.
Next time you're completing a task, don't think about getting it done- think about how you can be mindful and enjoy each task instead of always rushing.
